Announcing The 2022 SEBF Scholarship Awardees

We are excited to announce the recipients of the annual SEBF scholarship: Camryn Stewart and Jameriah Hull. These recipients were chosen based on both their academic success and aspiration, as well as their dedication to the values that we stand behind at the Susie E. Barnes Foundation. This organization exists to carry on the legacy of Susie Ethel Barnes, who lived her life with respect, a dedication to education, generosity, and prayer. We fully believe that the scholars who have received this award will continue this legacy by living their lives with the values instilled by Susie E. Barnes, and in the process, build their own personal legacies.

Camryn Stewart

Meet Camryn Stewart, one of two recipients of the Susie E. Barnes Foundation Scholarship. She is a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School. She has earned a 4.019 grade point average in her Advanced Placement and Honor’s coursework all while working part time. Cameron will be majoring in the Nurse Practitioner or Nurse Anesthetist program this upcoming fall. She is a recipient of the Tribune Chronicle Twenty Under Twenty Award which awarded her a scholarship being among the top twenty students under twenty years old in Trumbull County. Camryn was the manager of her basketball team as well as being a member of the softball and volleyball team. Camryn received college credit plus through Eastern Gateway Community College and her extra-curricular activities include being the Vice President of the National Honor Society and a member of the Big Brother/Big Sister’s Program. Camryn’s instructors assert that she is a versatile young woman who exemplifies leadership, integrity, curiosity, and exemplary work ethic. She possesses a vibrant personality and possesses a heart for people.

Jameriah Hull

Meet Jameriah Hull, one of two recipients of the Susie E. Barnes Foundation Scholarship. She is a graduate of Chaney High School and studied Early Childhood Education at Choffin Career & Technical Center. Jameriah has earned certifications in CPR/First Aid, and First Bleed. She is also certified in OSHA (Occupational, Safety, & Health Administration), NIMS (The National Incident & Management System), and Child Abuse. She has a grade point average of 3.4 and is a member of the Student Advisory Board. Jameriah dedicates her free time to spending time on the playground with her students as well as prepping them for nap time. Jameriah’s instructors affirm that she is refreshing and enthusiastic while overseeing and caring for her students with kindness, patience, and immense heart as well as caring for her own baby brother. She asserts that this experience has shaped her desire to become a teacher. Lastly, Jameriah has mentored younger scholars as part of her community service as well as being in the Upward Bound program. Jameriah will be studying Early Childhood Education and looks forward to helping to shape the lives of young hearts.

Our driving goal as an organization is to provide college scholarships for African American youth, and we are proud to say that our 2022 Scholarship Luncheon was our biggest event to date. We encourage those who feel they are qualified to apply for next year’s scholarship, and look forward to the future events we may hold in honor of Susie E. Barnes and her legacy. To our scholarship awardees: continue paving your path of personal excellence, and remember, keep pushing.
