2026 SEBF Scholarship Application

Apply for The 2026 SEBF Scholarship Today

If you are interested in applying for a college scholarship from The Susie E. Barnes Foundation and meet the requirements below, please review the application options below and  be sure to submit your application before the posted deadline of April 3rd, 2026.

  • Applicant must be of African American descent, having at least one African American parent
  • Reside in Mahoning, Trumbull or Columbiana County
  • Have a cumulitive GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Plan to pursue a four-year post-secondary degree or a two-year trade program

This is a one-time scholarship program consisting of a $1,000.00 award. Interested applicants must submit:

  • A fully completed and signed application form
  • High school transcript signed by their school Principal or Guidance Counselor
  • And three (3) letters of recommendation from non-family member

In addition, applicants must submit a 500-600 word maximum essay, typed out and double-spaced, covering at least one of the following topics:

  • How you plan to contribute to society?
  • What you hope to be doing ten years from now?
  • Why you think you are a good student to invest in?
